For those desiring a fresh air experience, enjoy the thrill of riding along the Northern Central Railway on our open-air Gondola car. Passengers can roam through the car to see all the sights of the York County Heritage Rail Trail. With just the basic frame, trucks and axle boxes donated to Northern Central Railway by the Strasburg Railroad Museum, this 1906 Gondola car No. 8146 was completely reconstructed by Northern Central Railway of York’s mechanics in 2022 and a new floor installed in 2025 to provide a truly open air experience for riders and to support our popular “Bike Aboard” program which carries one-way riders and their bicycles so they can enjoy biking along the Heritage Rail Trail and then relax on the return trip.
